Long Posts: My Virgo, virgo-ing Astrological Archetype

This post goes into some recent ponderings as to why my posts are so long. As such, they give an inside look into the inner workings of a Virgo mind. Mercury is in exaltation and in domicile in Virgo. Virgo is the feminine version of Mercury and therefore internally focused, precise and exacting.

As I was thinking about these blog posts and just how long-winded I am, I began to think of just how stereotypically Virgo the posts are. Most people are accustomed to dealing with the seemingly scattered and endless chatter that may come from those born with strong Gemini placements (referred to hereafter as Geminis), but when it comes to those born with prominent Virgo placements (hereafter, Virgos), the information isn’t so forthcoming and when it comes out, it seems to be more calculated, organized and often brutally direct. This is probably due, in part, to these two signs representing two different sides of their shared ruler, Mercury.

In Gemini, one deals with the outward air version of Mercury so the outward communicative disposition of its natives is more on display. Geminis typically display Mercury’s keen cognitive abilities including, high intelligence and the ability to quickly process and manipulate and use situations and information. Manipulation of things isn’t inherently negative, though it’s usually given that connotation. Everything depends on the person wielding that capability and what they decide to do with it. People tend to get upset with Geminis because they may say one thing and change their mind after they said it. This is partially because part of their decision making process often involves actually saying it out loud and that might not be understood by all. Sometimes Geminis hearing the things they're saying will help them re-think them and better understand their own position... your input might also be taken into consideration, if you offer it. Either way, it might not hurt to check with them a few times before really banking on anything that they say. They're not always trying to be deceptive, though when they want to be, they'll probably be good at it.... Geminis are great at thinking, acting and reacting in the moment. They typically prefer to exist in the moment as well.

Virgos, however, are quite the opposite. We even look quite different on the surface, making it so that many people don't recognize how much we have in common with Geminis. We have the same ruler and both signs are mutable, or transitional in nature. Though we Virgos may also have an extreme amount of mental stimulation and importance placed upon communication, the bulk of what happens externally for Geminis happens internally for Virgos. Typically, information and sentiments conveyed by Virgos are what we decide to share after extensively processing information internally and preparing it for external consumption. That includes, but is not limited to: researching the subject as much as possible, approaching the data from as many different viewpoints as we can come up with, thinking ideas and concepts through from their possible beginnings to their possibly infinite outcomes (as an earth sign we'll also typically prefer to base things on existing databases and past experiences as well), attempting to figure out how things/people/situations within our purview will be affected by, and are affecting, whatever is being contemplated, choosing whether or not to express the information and/or our feelings, what to express if we do and how to be the most helpful while maintaining the integrity of our actual thoughts and feelings while conveying them. This process takes a long time and we probably have a number of different things running in the background of our minds at all times. Many conversations we have externally about different subjects have already been had in our heads way too many times to count and with way too many different variations of the same conversation. The number of conversations we've had in our heads only to not have them in real life is probably shameful.

So... Doing this blog posts is kind of interesting because it changes playing field a bit when compared to just talking to someone. When writing, there's a lot more to critique and pick apart, which we like to do. The critiquing and picking apart of things is typically done with the intent to improve things, because that's one of Mercury's super powers. It's great at finding faults and tweaking them because it's small and governs over small details. So, when it comes to writing things out, the number of edits any given written work goes through is typically worse than what has already been described above, probably because a written copy is left for the Virgo to go over a million times later. Also, written words can be used in a bunch of different ways and by more than just the person writing. Therefore, the necessity to be exact becomes paramount. I suppose the same can be said about anything that is recorded and reproducible. Writing, though, has a set of rules and regulations governing it. I once gave more importance to grammar and punctuation, but as I started learning more languages and interacting with people from all walks of life, my focus shifted. Would I still like to go over everything I write and ensure that it's well-written? Most definitely! However time and energy do not permit such things and I'm re-working priorities to help me actually get information out that could be beneficial to others. I've recorded and re-recorded videos for the last two years only to see others actually release some of that same information that was coming to me. I may not have started releasing videos yet, but these posts are a start to taking things from the mental plane and putting the out there. They will also give some insight into the inner-workings of a Virgo mind, which is something that not many get to experience, at least not the messiness that you'll probably get from some of these posts. Hopefully, later I'll look back and be in a different position and see how far I've come. That's what I've been told will happen.

Another thing that came to mind is that a Virgo's stringency and high-strung nature might also be partially explained by the double role Virgo plays for Mercury in traditional astrology. Virgo, in addition to being a home sign or domicile of Mercury, is also his sign of exaltation. This makes it the only sign to be both the exaltation and the domicile of a planet and it also makes Mercury the only planet in charge of exalting himself. I was going to write more, but I have already spent hours on this today and it was supposedly done yesterday. I just kept editing and adding... I had an election for today and missed prior ones due to this tendency to go on and on... that might also be Jupiter in opposition to my natal Mercury cazimi, but that'll be a convo for another day. Haha

Hopefully I'll eventually have enough written here that if you're following along with me and reading my stuff you'll be able to break things down to planetary influences as well... or maybe at some point we'll touch on another system that works better for you and you'll get really into it and be able to explain the same phenomena in different words. Like how some of this can be described in MBTI terms using the code INFJ. Either way, I'm going to stop for now. Hopefully you've enjoyed the read.
