Partial Solar Eclipse at 9° Aries - We Must Go Back Before We Go Forward

This post details a lot of the back and forward aspects of this solar eclipse. It's trying to close out a cycle, but bringing us back in order to do so. If you've been in a state of confusion, this post might help you understand why.

PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE AT 9° ARIES

Heads up, in this post I talk a lot about mundane (worldwide) astrology and mundane events. It’s not my favorite type of astrology to talk about because much of it seems out of our hands. I tend to prefer to focus more on the individual because doing so can seem more empowering because you can work with yourself more easily than the world as a whole. However, it is important to be aware of worldwide events and ways that the astrology can possibly be affecting the world as a whole. As this is a post about an Aries eclipse and Aries topics can be war-heavy (look at the past two years), this post gets heavy at times. It was heavy for me writing certain sections, but I trust that as more individuals start to see the truth and choose to rise above the lower vibrations and manipulations, we can affect the whole. Also, knowing some of astrology unfolding over the next few months, I feel like I’d do a disservice to not discuss the possibilities. We’re in the midst of some big shifts. If you’re reading something like this, you can probably already feel something brewing. We have to leave the vibration of fear, inform and then prepare ourselves. It’s time for us to start trusting ourselves and our instincts again. So be aware of the mundane possibilities of how the events of this eclipse may play out, but use the personal sections of this post to inform and prepare yourself to use the energies for your highest good, as well.

Capito?

So now it’s time, to say goodbye… to the eclipses in Aries. At least for now. They’ll be back at the end of 2032, possibly balancing out something that went overboard with the ones from the past couple of years, because the South Node will then be in Aries… maybe that will be a time to release some of the tensions caused by the Aries side of the Aries-Libra eclipses over the past couple of years. This is a partial solar eclipse because the nodes aren’t too close to the sun and moon when they come together for their monthly meeting, and by this time the nodes are actually on the Pisces-Virgo axis. Either way, I feel like this isn’t an eclipse to sleep on. I say this because this current eclipse season, which started on March 13th or 14th, depending on where you’re at in the world, was a total lunar eclipse in Virgo and it was our first total lunar eclipse since November of 2022. It was also very colored by a string of retrogrades, a couple of which are continuing at the time of this eclipse and link the last eclipse to this one. The Mercury retrograde started literally the day after the last eclipse and on the same degree of this solar eclipse. That’s the ruler of the first eclipse of the season going retrograde at the same degree of the zodiac that the second eclipse of the season will happen. There’s an obvious link here. The retrograde served as a pre-activation of the eclipse energies for the solar eclipse, and drew the Virgo eclipse energies into this one as well. It’ll also likely give more importance to the Venus cazimi which happened on the 22nd of March and the Mercury cazimi, happening as I post this on March 24th. Also, Venus and Mercury’s eventual passes over 9 degrees of Aries later on will be reactivating these energies and possibly helping us understand more because they’ll be moving forward and helping us do so as well. If you feel like you’re getting whipped around by the energies over this whole month, know you’re not alone. Live the moments, do what you can to stay as level as possible, and trust that answers will come.. even if they take some time. I mention some important dates in this post that might help.

***Since this is a retrograde-y eclipse, I’ll go back before going forward.***

A thought that came to mind here is that the cosmic dance that’s happening is setting the stage for some epic events which might expose and bring war and it’s affect on humanity center stage. I say this because we just had a rough couple of years while the eclipses were happening along the Aries-Libra axis. We can give each eclipse seasons a span of maybe a month where the energy is pretty intense. We give at least a week before the first eclipse, then there’s the two week period between the eclipses, which is probably the most intense (it’s like we’re in a tunnel), and then another week after the second eclipse of the season. I’m going to list the eclipses of the last couple of years:

Date of Eclipse Degree of the zodiac Solar/Lunar Type of Eclipse

April 20, 2023 29 Aries 51’11” Solar Hybrid

May 5, 2023 14 Scorpio 58’11” Lunar Appulse

Oct 14, 2023 21 Libra 07’33” Solar Annular

Oct 28, 2023 05 Taurus 09’04” Lunar Partial

March 25, 2024 05 Libra 07’14” Lunar Appulse

Apr 8, 2024 19 Aries 24’01” Solar Total

Sep 18, 2024 25 Pisces 40’45 Lunar Partial

Oct 2, 2024 10 Libra 03’48” Solar Annular

March 14, 2025 23 Virgo 56’32” Lunar Total

March 29, 2025 09 Aries 00’05” Solar Partial

If you’re not aware of the degrees of the zodiac, you’re missing out on the power of real astrology. Get information.

I took this section of dates from a document I created to give myself an easier reference point when doing readings involving timing, the formatting might be off, but the info is valid. Either way, those are the eclipses of the past couple of years. If you look at things that happened in the world around the times of these dates, you’ll see a crazy story playing out. Heck you can probably use this dates to find other stories that I even haven’t paid attention to. Another interesting point is that the last total lunar eclipse before the one we had to open this eclipse season, was the one closing the eclipse season preceding the first solar eclipse in Aries listed here. The fact that none of the lunar eclipses in the last series was a total eclipse probably means something also.

I’m getting the feeling that this last eclipse was bringing back into play something dealing with the, seemingly, total disconnect of the interplay between the masculine and feminine forces. The earth inserted itself between the connection that the two luminaries commonly have and temporarily blocked the moon from reflecting the sun’s light back to it. I’m wondering if this will play out in some way affecting our soul-body connection. If maybe we’ll eventually see possibly even a man-made intervention between the animation of the body through the soul. I’m not going to pretend like a war isn’t a possible way that this could happen, the moon turning red wouldn’t necessarily go against that train of thought either. The moon was in Virgo for the last eclipse and Virgo is very linked to information. I could see some importance given to information about wars, past and present maybe even a connection between them, maybe a focus on how the information is communicated, as well as the destruction and loss the wars have caused. I say that because the ruler of Virgo, Mercury is in Aries and retrograde.

This upcoming eclipse could spark a new event linking us to a series of wars or conflicts, maybe echoes of wars from the past which come back into play and we’re faced with where we go from there. If that’s the case, and a worldwide war-sparking event does occur around the time of the upcoming eclipse we’ll have to put it into perspective and while we ponder things, remember timing is everything. Mars just got out of retrograde and Venus and Mercury are both currently retrograde. What have we learned from past wars? What has been gained? Who has profited from them? How were global relationships changed? Do alliances which resulted from past wars have to deal with our current situation? Where are our values? How have past wars and conflicts affected the resources and mindset of the people?

One really important concept in astrology, is the importance of looking at the rulers of the signs governing over certain areas of life and/or certain astrological events, to get more information about them. In this case we’ve got Mars governing this eclipse, because he rules Aries. Looking at his state during this time can give us a lot of information about how things may look, as well as where they might lead. At this point, Mars has been in Cancer for a very long time. He’s out of retrograde and direct, but he’s moving quite slow. This means the energy and effects of this eclipse might take some time to play out. Uranus is involved so there might be some quickness, but I’d lean towards maybe an instantaneous event that occurs, but the dust kicked up takes time to settle and only after are we able to act... or we've acted as a reflex only to reflect later and see things differently. Again, Mars is in Cancer, the sign of his fall, a sign that he doesn’t like because it’s reactive, not direct, it’s emotional and it’s not usually very fast because it’s a water sign. It’s hard for Mars to Mars here because he doesn’t have the resources to express his natural energies. Think of an Aries. Have you ever made one wait? Mars in Cancer has likely led to a lot of frustration in lives of many, especially in the area of their chats that’s ruled by Cancer ***in the birth chart, in whole sign houses, the house that has cancer on the cusp. In the chart above, it'd be the 3rd house*** However, Mars and Cancer are definitely on the same page when it comes to protecting things, people and values they care about, and defending their homes. We’ll likely see this involved in the energy that plays out from the eclipse. Being aware of this energy can help you understand your frustrations, and figure out where to direct your focus so you can use this energy productively. We might also see some sideways, indirect or passive-aggressive energies come from the events of this eclipse because of the Cancerian approach to conflict. We might also learn that an indirect approach, might be one of the best ways to deal with the conflict at hand. Think of your own personal situation, pray and go from there.

One really big thing that I’ve noticed from doing readings is the importance of out-of-bounds planets. Their energy is erratic and works in unconventional ways and Mars is out-of-bounds at the time of this eclipse. An out-of-bounds planet in fall will surely be unconventional because we’ve got the doubling up of significations there. It might be rash and exaggerated also because that's something that can be seen by both Mars in Cancer and Mars out-of-bounds. Later I’ll discuss other aspects Mars is making, but for now, look at your chart and see which houses are ruled by Aries and Cancer to see where these energies are playing out. For example, if you’re an Aries rising, you might have something happen and information that comes in that cause you to change in a way that allows you to find innovative ways to defend and protect your home, your family, and/or your private life (especially if it’s close to your IC).

There aren’t any planets that are directly aspecting this the eclipse itself, or at least the sun and moon factors of the eclipse. It’s like the Sun and Moon are making the seemingly normal conjunction they make every month, creating a new moon and new beginning. The nodes are close enough to create a partial eclipse, but the eclipse itself isn’t really the star of the show. The nodes are far enough away from the new moon to where they’re not extremely supercharging it and not completely eclipsing the light we’d expect. Also, there isn’t much by way of sextiles, squares, trines or oppositions (the Ptolemaic aspects) to the Sun and Moon. Even Mercury, who is at the beginning of Aries, is separating from the eclipse and isn’t too close. I’ll go into detail about him, and his energies, later though. So while the eclipse itself might not be the strongest of eclipses, it is still likely going to be impactful because of the pre and post activations of the energy, along with the aspects that are occurring at the time of the eclipse. Think of it like the new moon energy that has the imprint of everything happening at the new moon, except, because of the proximity to the nodes, it’s somewhat supercharged, something is kind of hidden and somehow involves fated aspects, regardless of the strength of the endings and beginnings which come about as a result of the event caused by the eclipse itself. It’s a vague energy that you may think you know what is going on, but then you get hit with reversals or changes of the mind and/or words that were said or people from the past coming back. It’s like the event that is caused by the eclipse is a necessary continuation in a cascade of dominoes. Like the retrogrades started to push the dominoes which fall and hit something that launch a marble which falls into something that sets off other sets of cascading dominoes leading in different directions. Let's say we've got all this going on at a rave with fog machines in hyperdrive, also making things hard to see.

On the nodal side of this eclipse, there’s quite a bit of energy packed in. We’ve got Saturn, Venus and Neptune all within 3 degrees of the Nodes. This could really show some fated, soul-contract type of connections and relationships coming in, but be aware, not everything may be what it seems. Either way, the relationships and/or connections will likely require work and time to make it. I still am a fan of not going all-in until after Venus and Mercury are direct. More on Venus in the next section.

At the time of this upcoming eclipse Venus will still be retrograding back through Pisces and applying to a trine with Mars, who is in Cancer. It’ll still take a week for this the trine to happen, but it’s interesting that she’s making her way back to have a supportive connection with him during the time of this eclipse ruled by him and they ruled the eclipse season that we’re closing out with this one. It’s also interesting to think that through this part of her retrograde, she’s in her exaltation and has everything she needs to express her natural energies. So, she can really easily draw people and their resources together. She’s in a place that represents the dissolution of boundaries, a togetherness and compassion. She could be rallying many disparate groups of people together, possibly even behind war, conflict and loss. Maybe when she turns around, around the 12th of April, and starts outwardly expressing her energies again we’ll see people uniting over their side of whatever wars or conflicts have been taking place, maybe even linked to things which were happening in January of this year when she entered her shadow, especially things linking that time to this last eclipse. I’m hoping that since she does trine Mars in Cancer before turning around, that maybe she’ll be able to gather up enough people that want to protect their homeland by joining together in peace and compassion that war can be prevented (everyone can wish. Right?). Since Venus went retrograde at 10 Aries, it’ll be interesting to see what happens when she reaches that degree again, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this story isn’t better understood after she leaves Aries on June 6th.

On a personal level, the Venus retrograde is really working overtime during this eclipse and doing what she can to help us get out priorities and values in order. The Libra side of the eclipses ended last year and now Venus is helping us figure out all of that in relation to the Aries side. Isn’t it poetic that though her side of the eclipses finished last year, for the ending of the Aries side, she started her retrograde in Aries? I think we’ve got to take note on that. She’s also about to go into an Aries-like face as she emerges as a morning star. I know from readings, and a bunch more, that relationships have been going through the ringer. We’ve had Venus and Mars hosting the eclipses since 2021, the first one being hosted be Venus. The back and forth of the eclipses between the Venus and Mars energies have been hitting us all for quite some time and wearing down their energies. Before we even hit the Aries-Libra eclipses of the last couple of years, we had the Taurus-Scorpio ones and those focused on the our needs, comfort, stability and transformation, trauma and toxicity. Think about that, we dealt with that, things that play directly into relationships and then the nodes moved into the Aries-Taurus axis and highlighted our independence versus our relationships. Our personal drive versus our collective and collaborative work. By the time we got to that point I’m sure a lot of people were feeling ready or at least the need for change. Then when the eclipses started hitting, the change started hitting. Mars went retrograde at the end of last year, going from a place of our pride and ego, to a place of our comfort and nurturing. Before he finished, Venus entered the point she would go back to. When she went retrograde, she went from a place that represents our personal drive and resources to more of a collective and collaborative space of compassion and connection. Please take this into perspective. Think over the past few years as she is retrograde, taking us through those things. There are lessons that need to be learned to help us make it through the next few years of turbulence and change. I know it has been hard for many people, I feel your pain, but you are stronger than you may have noticed. Even if you’re on the verge of breaking or you have broken, you’re still here. You’re still going. Find your inner strength and re-evaluate your wants and desires. Re-evaluate your values. Go over the things you’ve experienced over the last few years. Look at the world over the last few years. Find out where you really stand. Discover yourself, stripping away things you’ve been taught to be or value from outside sources that haven’t been serving you. During this Eclipse Venus is likely going to feel whatever is happening because it happens a degree from where she turned retrograde. Take in how you feel about these things. Allow yourself to feel and connect with your feminine energies, regardless of your sex, we’re all comprised of both masculine and feminine energies. Honor both sides and find your personal balance. This will be necessary because after the eclipse and after the energy starts to subside from the eclipse Venus will make become visible again and her energies will be perceivable again, but she won’t be the same Venus she was before. She’ll now be coming out before the Sun and announcing his coming. She’ll be the warrior and out to get what she wants. This will be a powerful time for you, if you know what you want. It’ll be a powerful time of attraction and manifestation, what will you want to be drawing in for yourself now? The world is changing and the old ways of trying to fit in and stick with the status quo will not cut it. You are special and here for a reason, the better you know yourself, the better you can accomplish your goals. Look at the areas of your life ruled by Taurus and Libra, you’ll be able to really bring those areas of your life into alignment to help you achieve that which you want. You’ll be able to draw in the people and resources to help you go further than you had imagined, to prepare you for the new cycle. There’s also a chance that some fated people come into your life around this time. Someone you meet but feel like you know might enter the picture. Interpersonal relationships and deals, especially past ones that have resurfaced will be able to run their appropriate courses, if you’ve been doing the inner work to figure your values out. Either way, Venus will likely have some extra juice being in Pisces and next to the North Node. Just be careful because the North Node can make things kind of insatiable and Venus is coming off the heels of her reunion with Neptune. The next time Venus meets with Neptune, it will be in Aries in May. That will be a completely different energy. Venus-Neptune connections can be interesting ones because they can be the most day-dreamy and pleasurable connections out there. They can also just be like wear rose-colored glasses. Proceed with caution. I think that if you’re aware possibility of deception, self or otherwise, you can try to tap into the more creative and possibly other-worldly aspects of the connection. You can use it for something productive and creative. Enjoy the energy of this Venus-Neptune connection because it’ll be the last Venus Neptune connection in Pisces, a sign they both like, for a very, very long time. In conclusion of this part, find your inner compass and work with it. Find your connection to the divine and let that guide you, there will be quite a bit of confusion and a whirlwind of info and actions happening at really fast paces coming up. If you know yourself, your values and your worth, you will fare much better than you would otherwise.

***I know I put a lot of stipulations in here, but I’m directing this to a general public, so bare with me.***

Just because a karmic and/or fated connection comes in, it does not mean it’s a connection for you to hold on to. Not everything that comes around or comes back around is meant to be kept around. Some cycles have to be given a chance to close.

***** At the very least, I do feel like we can get some AWESOME art and creative pieces from this time. If you are artistically inclined or creative and feeling inspired... This time could give birth to some of your best work. *****

So, outside of the purview of main show of the eclipse itself, it looks like some really supportive things are happening in another areas of our lives. You’ll want to look very specifically at the areas of your chart being ruled by Pisces, Taurus and Cancer (again, in Whole Sign Houses). To start, there is a really supportive energy coming through between Saturn in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus. It’s kind of interesting because neither Saturn or Uranus is too happy where they’re at, and typically Saturn and Uranus’s energies aren’t seen as very supportive of each other, but they’re coming together here to make a difference. When you throw in the fact that Mars in Cancer, a place he can’t stand, is also trying to do what he can, you’ve got quite the interesting combination, and it’s one that might be completely weird and zany, but is somehow supportive and to bring about change. What is coming to mind right now is that song Friends in Low Places. For those who don’t get that one.. how about Smash Mouth- All Star? Does anyone remember the movie Mystery Men that All Star was featured on? It’s giving me those types of vibes. An unlikely grouping comes together to save the day. In this case, something in each the Pisces, Taurus and Cancer areas of your life are working together to bring about a change.

Saturn and Uranus are interesting archetypes and even the mythology linking the two of them is interesting. You just don’t see them as getting along too well. I’ll take it to the simple astrological terms here. Saturn is structure, order, tradition, foundations, boundaries, holding back, working hard, taking time to do things right. Uranus now considered to rule over things like liberation, freedom, revolution, shocking changes and upheavals, and possibly authentic and weird things. They seem to be on opposite sides of the spectrum. However, at the time of the eclipse they’re forming a supportive aspect, a sextile, to one another. This means that they can work together. This could show the ability to change some foundational things, maybe let go of fears of pursuing something that you want, that can help you gain more stability, update traditions. You could also use some changes that have been occurring in the Taurus area of your chart to support Saturn in making a dream a reality in the Pisces area of your chart, or to give a more firm foundation to something you’ve been trying to establish but haven’t been able to. The supportive nature of the connection doesn’t mean we negate the specific characteristics of the planets involved. There’s still a good chance that whatever is trying to come through will take effort and time, but it can pay off if you invest both. There’s a chance an idea comes in and helps you make the changes necessary to bring a dream to life, so don’t be afraid to pursue it.

Next up, we’ve got a sextile from Uranus to Mars. This here is another interesting pairing as well. You can take the things I mentioned about Uranus in the previous paragraph and pair them with Mars, the god of war, the planet that rules over drive, willpower, anger, frustration, defense and masculine energies. This pairing is actually one where at least they both like making things happen, and they like them done fast, but they’re both in spots that really don’t resonate with them and they really don’t have the resources to achieve their goals as outright as they’d like to, but they’re working together. You’ll likely see unconventional ways of accomplishing things you care about. You might find a way to create or forge something you feel is necessary to protect yourself, your loved ones or your home. You might find ways to give yourself more stability and comfort, even in uncomfortable situations. Try to engage the Saturn energies here to not go overboard though, Mars is go and Uranus likes the go, you might go too far.

When we mix the energies of Saturn and Mars together, we’ve got another interesting thing. People often compare Mars to the gas pedal and Saturn to the brake pedal. In more harsh configurations, it can be like pushing the brake pedal and the gas pedal at the same time. Or it can be like hitting the gas, getting to a really fast speed and slamming on the brakes, or like the new driver learning and doing the stop and go thing. Either way, it’s frustrating and can be quite dangerous. In this configuration though, a trine, I like to think of a really good race car driver, like Ayrton Senna (I’m in Brazil. Hehe) or A.J. Ferguson (Little Rascals. Hehe), okay maybe Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt. They’ve mastered the ability to go between the gas and brakes. In this configuration you’ve got the ability to stop and go in a really beautiful way that can give you the edge.

When we mix all three of things unlikely energies working together from places they’re not necessarily happy in, but are figuring it out, we get really creative ways of problem solving and making things happen. I do see Uranus as being quite key in this and I would say that while it is important to make sure you put in the work and actually do something, doing things in a way that best suites you, will likely be best. Also, doing something that you care about and hold very near and dear is important because that’ll help engage the Mars energy. Understanding what you truly value might take some time because again, Venus, the ruler of Taurus and our values is retrograde. So, part of this energy, is linked to being able to pivot and act when new information comes in. Sometimes we really don’t like changing directions or it seeming like we’re going back on something, but we have to be able to do so when we know it’s best for us. ***Low-key my problem with people with a lot of Taurus placements, sometimes they don’t pivot when new information is given and they keep on steadfast on their path.*** This is also why Uranus has been in that area trying to change things up where change doesn’t usually happen. Venus going retrograde not long before Uranus leaves could also be trying to help us evaluate and incorporate some of the changes he’s been making. Maybe look back at the section about Venus up there.

We’ll end with the planet whose retrograde has most intimately linked this eclipse to the last one in an interesting way. Mercury might not have very much dignity (or access to resources to easily express his energies) in Aries and he might be combust and retrograde, but at least he’s not in Pisces conjunct Neptune. Right? I’d say it’s like being between a rock and a hard place, but it really isn’t. In my head the thought is more like being between the underworld and limbo, and I think I might have just understood another reason why. I’ll first touch on Mercury’s delicate position at the time of the eclipse. Mercury in Aries isn’t necessarily in a bad spot because Aries is at least a fast sign, it’s usually quite direct and at least things are pretty clear here… maybe too clear at times. Pisces has none of that going for it. In Pisces it’s hard to know which way is forward, it’s hard to distinguish much of anything in Pisces and the more linear and rational you try to be, the harder it is for you. Mercury literally rules over linear and rational thinking. Those are his jams. However, Mercury is now retrograde and his energies are seemingly going backwards with him. Additionally, he’s too close to the Sun. Mercury is within 9 degrees of the Sun and is therefore traditionally seen to be combust. It’s like his energy is being burnt out by the Sun’s, so it’ll be harder for things like communications, thoughts and possibly transportation for a bit, especially due to the fact that this is compounded on top of the retrograde. It’s like Mercury’s going through the refiner’s fire and it’s not easy. He’s also separating now from a sextile with Pluto who is in Aquarius. Pluto in a supportive aspect with Mercury could be revelations of hidden things and secrets… with Mercury in his current position though… Again, at least Mercury isn’t in Pisces yet. Right? I know that this section hasn’t been much of an upper, but we’ve got to be realistic. Some people will legitimately be experiencing these energies and at their wit’s end. I don’t want to pretend like what they’re experiencing is not a thing. Shortly after the Eclipse Mercury will dive back into the waters of Pisces where it’ll be cooled off, but also be probably quite lost. There’s even a chance that we’ll have to deal with nebulous, at best, information coming out shortly after the eclipse. On the flip side, though, Mercury will station direct between were the North Node and Sun where when we had the Virgo eclipse. When he starts going forward again and goes back over the North Node there’s a chance we might get some important information. Since Neptune has finally moved out of Pisces, I wonder if this information might be just a bit more trustworthy and easier to understand than info we’ve received in the recent past. It might help us understand a bit more about the purpose of the events of this eclipse season. We might even get more truthful information about wars and conflicts. Pay attention to when Mercury goes back over 9° Aries on April 25th, 26th. We are likely to get more information, but again Neptune is back in the Mix because at this point Neptune has entered into Aries, clouding it’s energy.

This has been another really long and convoluted post, but the astrology has been really intricate and tying quite a bit together. It’s also interesting because we’re experiencing the end preview of an end and a new beginning because literally one day after this eclipse, Neptune enters into Aries. That is a HUGE deal because of reasons I go into in the Astrology of March Post. Definitely check that out as well. Maybe I’ll even do a Neptune in Aries post… I should… We’ll see. It’s a big transit and it’ll flavor a lot of the big changes on the horizon. It’s also interesting that it moves from the sign the nodes are in, into the sign the Sun is in, just after the Eclipse. A new beginning followed by the preview of a HUGE new beginning, the last time Neptune entered Aries was 1861. Any history buffs? Transitions are sometimes hard, destabilizing events like retrogrades and eclipses ushering in transitions can make them harder. Be patient, and learn to move out of the logical and informational mindset, we have a lot indicating this is necessary. I’ll stay on top of my posts, and if you have questions or would like to book a reading to get a more personal understanding of the big changes, you can contact me using the whatsapp link, and/or check out my booking page. I’ll update that soon as well. As always, find and strengthen your connection to the divine, pray and ask for guidance and protection, follow the guidance and give thanks. Much love and support in these times!
