Libra Solar Eclipse of October 2, 2024

In this post I'll go into some of the ins and outs of the Solar Eclipse in Libra. The energy will be typically most potent during the two week period before and after the eclipse. More-so a week on each side. The influence of other planets like Mars, Venus and Saturn are going to be playing a role in the grand scheme of things and possibly give us some perspective on the changes being made.

Annular Solar Eclipse in Libra

So I’m starting this post before the actual Solar Eclipse, but we’ll see when I get it posted. I’m just pulling up the chart and looking at it for the first time. I can say that a few things stand out and I’ll go into them. I had some videos playing in the background earlier and I must say that I love how astrology works. Different astrologers notice different things and are naturally drawn to different aspects, or patterns or different planets or points and it makes it to where you can watch a few different astrologers talk about the same event and get something different from each of them. Hopefully my POV on this one gives someone out there some perspective.

Obviously with any lunation you’ll want to look at the story being told by the luminaries. They’re relationship to each other, their places in the sky and also the condition(s) of their dispositor(s), the planet(s) ruling the sign(s) they’re in, also help us get an idea of what’s happening. Each and all of these things add layers to the story and can give us insight on ways we can work with the energy at hand.

In this case we’ve got the sun and moon coming together in the sign of Libra. The sun and the moon come together monthly and start a new cycle as they do. When this happens, typically the moon becomes invisible in our night skies as she starts a new cycle. When there’s a solar eclipses though, things line up just right and, momentarily, the moon passes in front of the sun, eclipsing it’s light. Part of the lining up has to do with two mathematical points known to us as the nodes. Each of the nodes is associated with different things and they tend to highlight and intensify the energy of whatever they touch. The south node is often associated with the release of something or someone and the north node with an insatiable urge and desire for something. Therefore, their contact with the luminaries is especially important because the luminaries give us light and life, in a sense.

In the case of a solar eclipse, the sun and moon come together with the south node… so the fresh energy of the new moon is being supercharged with the letting go of something. Seeing as this is happening in the sign of Libra, we’ll likely see a new beginning with a release of something dealing with Libran themes… this could be relationships, both romantic and non, contracts, interpersonal dealings in general and other things. For each person, Libra also rules over a very specific section of their life and you can see this energy playing out there. I practice traditional astrology and when it comes to physical manifestations of the astro-weather, it proves to be quite accurate, especially when using whole sign houses. Check out your chart to see where this is playing out for you. You can expect big changes here, as well areas ruled by planets involved in the eclipse.

Mercury, is very close to this eclipse, like 1 degree away from the new moon itself and only 5 from the south node. This means that everything ruled by Mercury, including thoughts, communication, and transportation, as well as the signs of Virgo and Gemini, and the areas of they rule in your life, are possibly going to experience some re-negotiations. I wouldn’t be too worried about much of these things though, because another things the nodes are known for is their relationship with fate and fortune. While in the storm you might not be able to see it so clearly, especially when it comes to letting things go, but the world looks different in hindsight. The song Good in Goodbye, by Carrie Underwood just came to mind. Not everyone will be saying goodbye to someone or something though, for some it’ll be more of a re-balancing and letting go of unhealthy habits which contributed to the imbalance. Maybe even a letting go of unhealthy thought patterns regarding the your relationships. I’m not saying any of this will be easy, but it likely plays a role in the larger story of your life.

So, there are a few other things I want to touch on, and one of those is that Mars is in cancer squaring the eclipse. This could show that there’s a chance that an indirect attack, an overreaction to something emotional, fighting with family and/or fighting for your family or home could play a role in the events in this eclipse period (most potent roughly 2 weeks before and after the actual day of the eclipse). Again, if you look at your birth chart and see where Cancer falls, it’ll give you a better idea of where these energies will play out for you specifically. The fact that the this square is happening to the new moon and the ruler of Mars is the moon, who is directly involved as well indicates that Mars’ role here is important. There is definitely a need for action and or progress to keeps things going. Interestingly enough, Mars is also making connections with other planets as well, which makes me lean towards a better outcome in the end. Mars is trining (making an extremely supportive connection) both Venus (who is ruling both the Sun and Moon) and Saturn (who governs over reality and time). The positive connection to the ruler of the lunation, when she has the final say on what happens there and he’s ruling the sign she’s in makes me think that even if things get out of hand, it’ll likely be for the best, at least on helping us get a handle on the emotional aspect of things (grand water trine). Pluto is also trining Uranus showing the possibility of creating tangible changes for the collective… Neptune is sextiling both Pluto and Uranus which makes adds a dreamy aspect and possibly assistance from the other side. Jupiter may also be helping gain perspective on the wounds regarding the Aries energy around this time.

I’m posting this a week late because of very 3rd house topics, including the necessity to change vehicles and my neighborhood as well. Let’s just say the astrology has been astrology-ing and now, after finishing this I can remind myself that the stressful events currently present in my life are happening for a reason and there’s support helping me get to a greater purpose. I can tell this because I know my own chart and so I know where all of the energies discussed above are happening. The last bit about the Jupiter and Aries portions are helping me gain perspective on my life direction and career because this stuff is happening on the indicators for both, my MC and North Node. This is part of the benefit knowing astrology and getting the bigger picture. I’m going to work on actually finishing and posting a lot of the other blog posts which I’ve already prepared but haven’t had the time to post. Also, eventually I’ll be discussing other systems and doing some analysis of different events using the systems. It’s pretty amazing. If you haven’t heard of spiral dynamics, look into it and see if you can get a better understanding of possible reasons for what we’re seeing happening on larger scales and how the application of this theory could be used and how it could have also been used and leveraged these last few years. 🤯
